Jordan- Abyad Fertilizers Company workers protest over salaries

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman March 21 (Petra) -- A group of Jordan Abyad Fertilizers and Chemicals Company employees staged a protest early Monday outside the Labour Ministry demanding previous years overtime payment and better salaries and work conditions.

"The ministry is keen to safeguard workers' rights in all facilities besides the care and attention given by the ministry to investors" Labour Minister Nidal Katamin said while addressing the protesters.

He said the workers demands are "purely civil matters" and not a labour dispute case.

Chairman of the labour and social development parliamentary committee Abdullah Obeidat announced that an agreement was reached yesterday to form a joint committee from the labour ministry and the Union of Mine Workers to deal with workers' demands.
