Comoros, Kuwait establish friendship commission


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO March 21 (KUNA) -- The Comoros and the State of Kuwait on Monday established a joint friendship commission as part of the two countries' common approach toward beefing up mutual cooperation and bilateral relations.

Acting President of the Assembly of the Union of Comoros Hashem Bambara in a statement after a meeting with the visiting Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation in the Comoros' capital Moroni declared establishment of the joint commission.

During the meeting he presented the Kuwaiti lawmakers with a draft memorandum of understanding for further revision with the competent authorities in Kuwait. The memo he said aims at enhancing cooperation swapping expertise and coordinating stances at Arab regional and international quarters.

Bambara expressed appreciation to the Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim for taking the initiative and covering financial over-dues by the Comorian parliament to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

For his part Head of the delegation MP Saud Nashmi Al-Heraiji praised result of this visit referring to the establishment of parliamentary friendship committee and the draft memo.

The visit is part of the National Assembly's program for visit exchanges with the parliaments of friendly countries which aims to strengthen the bilateral ties in all fields he added.

The Kuwaiti delegation includes MPs Dr. Ahmad Mati'e Al-Azemi Hamdan Salem Al-Azemi and Mohammad Marwi Al-Hadiya. (end) msh.ss
