Australian official lauds economic ties with GCC


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUALA LUMPUR March 21 (KUNA) -- Australian Minister for Trade and Investment Steven Ciobo on Monday stressed on his country's keenness on developing cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries particularly in trade and investment.

This came during talks between Minister Ciobo and GCC ambassadors to Australia held in the capital Canberra. The two parties during the meeting tackled bilateral relations and ways of developing the ties Kuwait Embassy in Australia said in a statement.

Minister Ciobo praised Australian-Gulf relations and joint cooperation that have grown and prospered in various fields the statement said.

For his part Kuwait Ambassador to Australia Najeeb Al-Bader said the meeting with the Australian Minister was held in line of keenness of both sides on developing cooperation in trade investment and economic fields.

The Australian minister will visit GCC countries in April for talks on ways to boost business trade and economic cooperation as well as for examining investment opportunities Al-Bader said.

He noted abundant economic potentials and expertise in Australia and called for enhancing cooperation between the GCC countries and Australia in health agriculture education research and other domains. (end) aab.am.ss
