(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has drafted a law that will govern the charities and volunteer work, reports Al-Jaridah daily.
The bill consists of 18 items, most notably the chapter of penalties, which will be applied on the offenders. One of the articles (Article 72) of the law states that "Whoever publishes false news, information, or data, or deliberately promotes rumors, which will have an impact on charity work, or that which makes people lose confidence in charity work shall pay a fine of not less than KD 10,000 dinars and not more than KD 20,000.
Article 68 states that those who do charity work in the name of non-proclaimed charity organization shall be imprisoned for a term not exceeding three years and a fine not less than KD 1,000, and not more than KD 5,000, or either one of the two penalties.
Article 69 states that those who carry out activities contrary to the objectives of charity work or causes loss in its fund due to negligence in a manner that it fails to continue its activities shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years and a fine not less than KD 1,000, and not more than KD 3,000, or either of the two penalties.
The law prohibits the charity from spending money on projects outside Kuwait or accepts money under any name from third parties without prior approval of the concerned authorities, in accordance with the procedures and conditions, determined by the executive regulations of this law.
