Kuwait takes part in Int'l communication forum


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) SHARJAH March 20 (KUNA) -- UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi stressed on Sunday importance of governmental communication with various segments of the society regarding its vital role in setting the strategic policies and plans for sustainable development.

Dr. Al-Qasimi in his opening speech of the 5th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) held in the UAE under the title "towards developed communities" said that communication between governments and societies is the core of progress and development in all segments of the society.

The two-day event was attended by international senior figures ministries officials and experts from various parts of the world.

Technological progress nowadays includes negative impact on the society and thus results in social and moral problems Al-Qasimi said.

Improving efficiency of governmental communication with the society is the best way to benefit from positive aspects of technology progress and eliminate its negativities he added.

Al-Sharjah bases its strategic plans on enhancing positives aspects of civilizations by offering more care to morals and values he said..

Means of governmental communication should be developed enough to meet aspirations of new generations and execute new projects he mentioned.

Al-Qasimi expressed appreciation to United Arab Media Council for choosing Al-Sharjah emirate as a capital for Arab journalism in recognition of its role in supporting science culture and knowledge besides offering encouragement and care to journalism.

The event attended by 300 participants tackles sufficiency of governmental communication.

The first sessions of IGCF was titled "governmental communication and building knowledge societies" with the participation of Swedish Prime minister Stefan Lofven along with UN Special Advisor on Global Education Jordan Casey besides other figures.

The forum includes a number of activities including "community platform innovation" during which eight innovating students from UAE presented their remarkable projects and initiatives.

The forum also includes a number of workshops organized in cooperation with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Thomson Foundation and Sky News Arabia TV channel including topics of "fighting radicalism hatred and violence through social media" besides "promoting for tolerance and cultural diversity" and as well as " governmental communication and strategies of partnership with the public".

The participating Kuwaiti delegation headed by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah including General Consulate in Dubai Theyab Al-Rashidi. (end) asa.lb
