China, US inaugurate major nuclear security center

(MENAFN) The China Atomic Energy Authority has unveiled the biggest nuclear security center in the Asia-Pacific, a facility co-financed by the United States, as the latest data showed.

The new nuclear security Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for China's local nuclear security training necessities, and offers a space for exchanging views on nuclear issues between states.

Moreover, the Chinese President had proposed building the center in the 3rd Nuclear Security Summit in 2014 to promote a regional conversation on global nuclear security technology.

"This Center of Excellence is a world-class facility for Chinese, regional, and international nuclear security training and technical exchanges," stated the U.S. Energy Secretary.
