More than 120 films to be screened at Muscat International Film Festival

Over 120 films will be screened at the 2016 edition of the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) which begins on Monday.

The films have been shortlisted from over 1000 entries. The five-day event will see screening of films from 25 countries along with workshops seminars and business meetings. About 5000 people are expected to attend the event.

The festival will hold its activities at Hormuz Grand Hotel and Muscat City Centre Seeb. Among the several Egyptian celebrities who will grace the opening day at Hormuz Grand Hotel on Monday include Samer Sabry Bossi and Kareem Abdul Aziz. Popular Kuwaiti actress Souad Abdullah will also be attending the event.

Faiz al Kindi one of the organisers of MIFF said 'The number of days have been reduced from seven to five this time. Over 80 film celebrities from across the world will attend the event.' Kindi added that the festival will screen 12 short films 12 feature films 12 documentaries and 20 Omani films.

During the festival Oman Film Society will announce the release of an Omani movie encyclopedia and launch of the Dhofar Film Festival. The encyclopaedia will include names and works of actors and directors from Oman. Entry is free and the programme will be held from 9.30am to 9.30pm.
