The Comoros lauds Kuwait's ongoing support


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO March 20 (KUNA) -- The Comoros has lauded the State of Kuwait's unwavering and continuing support for the islands' country since pre-independence times till now.

Such Kuwaiti backing for the country is highly appreciated said the Interior Minister Muhammad Al-Hadi during a meeting with the visit Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation headed by MP Saud Al-Heraiji. He noted that a large number of Comorian citizens who currently occupy senior posts in their homeland have studied in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti delegation's visit is an opportunity for the lawmakers to examine closely parliamentary and presidential elections currently held following recent troubles when some Comorian islands expressed desire to secede. "Conditions now have become stable and the Government has introduced reforms and built many institutions to tackle shortcomings in public services" said the minister who doubles as the acting foreign minister.

Moreover the Comorian Government has recently established a higher body grouping scholars to tackle misconceptions about Islam.

In response to a question by the delegation about investment hurdles the interior minister said the country suffers from lack of energy resources and this situation discourages external investments. He explained that studies intended to find energy resources had remained in the shelves.

MP Heraiji for his part affirmed that the visit aims at boosting cooperation and relations with the Comoros.

The Kuwaiti delegation includes MPs Dr. Ahmad Mati'e Al-Azemi Hamdan Salem Al-Azemi Mohammad Marwi Al-Hadiya. (end) ms.rk
