Twitter, Facebook in fierce rivalry for live TV rights

(MENAFN) Both Facebook and Twitter are competing to purchase rights to stream conventional TV programming, based on recent reports.

The social media giants have advanced programmers about a deal, hinting that they're anxious to tap into a new encouraging domain.

Facebook, which is already in talks with the National Football League, has met with a wide range of TV executives over the past few weeks.

"Our goal with live video is to work with our partners to move to a sustainable monetization model quickly," Facebook said in a statement.
