Kuwait- Salwa Cup kicks off
(MENAFN- Arab Times) Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwait International Table Tennis Championship (Salwa Cup) kicked-off Wednesday in the late Khaled Yousef Khaled Al-Marzouq Hall at Salwa Sports Club in Qurain.
Participating in this year's championship are international top-class table tennis players, in addition to a significant increase in the number of players from Japan compared to previous editions of the championship, whereas the total number of participants is 185 players from 34 countries.
In U-21 competition for men, Kuwaiti Marzouq Al-Rashidi won the first round against Hong Kong's Hang Sui Lam who won the remaining rounds with a final score of 1-3.
In another match, Kuwaiti Abdullah Al-Bahraini lost all rounds to Thailand's Badasak Tanfigeer Shakool with a final result of 0-3.
In the women's matches, Kuwaiti Shahad Al-Enezi lost against Japanese Saki Shibata with 0-3, whereas Thailand's Orowan Baranan defeated Lebanese Malak Khori.
In other matches in the same category, Shao Hong Son won against Saudi's Abdul Aziz Boshalbi with 3-0, whereas Egypt's Shadi Majdi won against Japan's Tayunin Rikwaz with 3-2.
Jordan's Khaled Khadher lost the match to Taiwan's Yi Yanson with 0-3 and Lebanon's Muhammad Hami lost to Kazakhstan's Kereel Jersiminko with 0-3.
The second round knockout matches will continue on Thursday.
