Tokyo Stocks Continue to Fall on Wednesday


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo stocks continued to fall Wednesday as investors cautiously braced for the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's two-day Federal Open Market Committee meeting ending later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 142.62 points, or 0.83%, from Tuesday at 16,974.45. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 11.58 points, or 0.84%, lower at 1,360.50.

Decliners were led by banking, iron and steel, and security issues.
