Qatar- Over 70 busloads of students visit 32nd GCC Traffic Week

DOHA: School students are showing so much interest in the ongoing 32nd GCC Traffic Week that since it opened on March 13 over 70 busloads of students have visited the event and benefited from lessons in road safety.

“We are expecting more visitors today” said First Lieutenant Abdul Wahid Ghraib Al Unaizi Officer Traffic Awareness in remarks to this newspaper. “So far thousands of people including men women and children have visited the event.”

And what marked this year’s event is more of youth participation in addition to increased participation by volunteer agencies like Qatar Volunteer Centre and others Al Unaizi added.

“Our aim is to raise traffic safety awareness among school students and familiarise them with traffic rules” Abdul Wahid said.

Meanwhile Mowasalat is also taking part in the event to support the “aspirational” traffic awareness campaign and to confirm its continuous efforts towards providing and achieving the maximum protection and awareness for citizens and residents of all ages.

As part of its participation Mowasalat introduced the latest devices which are used for driver training programmes emphasising on the importance of safe driving and alertness on the road used in Karwa Driving School.

It is exhibiting its light vehicles training devices and newly introduced driving simulator of heavy vehicles and the transportation of hazardous goods .

Mowasalat is also keen to provide awareness to school students and guide them through a display of a school bus which has additional safety features for the use of school children.

Also to give them security and safety tips for the proper use of the school transportation focusing on the important of the seat belts and the proper way of sitting down in the bus.

The event was held under the theme (Your decision determines your fate) and more than 60 government departments agencies and ministries semi-government entities and private companies are taking part.
