Jordan- King meets with EU leaders

Brussels March 16 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday held a summit meeting with the leaders of the European Union during a working dinner hosted by European Council President Donald Tusk in honor of the King and his accompanying delegation.

The summit also included President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer and a number of senior European officials.

The meeting discussed relations between Jordan and the EU and efforts by various EU institutions to support the economic and development capabilities of the kingdom especially through simplifying rules of origin by the EU for Jordanian products and development zones.

The summit also tackled challenges facing Jordan the repercussions of regional crises particularly the Syrian crisis and ways of strengthening Jordan's capacity to alleviate the impact of regional crises on the Kingdom and its economy while taking into account the recommendations of the recent London donor conference.

The King and the EU leaders also spoke about regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.
