Brussels March 16 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday said Jordan is keen on expanding its relations with the European Union and member countries. During a meeting with the EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini His Majesty thanked the bloc for the assistance it extends to Jordan.
The meeting dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East and a number of international issues of common concern. The King and Mogherini stressed the need to continue the fight terrorism and extremist ideology within an all-encompassing and holistic approach.
Speaking on Syria His Majesty stressed the need to bring about a political solution to the Syrian crisis and highlighted major burdens being borne by Jordan as a result of sheltering a massive number of refugees.
The meeting dealt prospects for facilitating entry of Jordanian products to the European Union though easing rules of origin.
Mogherini commended Jordanian-EU cooperation and emphasized the importance of cementing ties in various domains. She also said that the bloc is keen on maintaining close coordination with Jordan with regards to the war against terrorism.
