Arab League chief welcomes Russian withdrawal from Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO March 16 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a partial withdrawal of forces from Syria will contribute in providing appropriate atmosphere for the success of ongoing negotiations in Geneva.Al-Araby said in a statement on Wednesday that the Russian announcement came in a proper time and represented an important positive step towards strengthening efforts of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) for the success of negotiations which started yesterday in Geneva under UN auspices.He called on all conflicting Syrian parties to show wisdom flexibility and give priority to Syrian people's interest in order to reach a final agreement on the transition process that meets legitimate aspirations of the Syrians.
