UAE- Australian Prime Minister receives Abdullah bin Zayed

CANBERRA 16th March 2016 (WAM) -- Malcolm Turnbull Prime Minister of Australia today received H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the presence of Julie Bishop Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to the Prime Minister of Australia and their best wishes of further progress and prosperity to Australia and its people.

Sheikh Abdullah and Mr. Turnbull reviewed the existing cooperation and friendship relations between the UAE and Australia and ways of boosting economic and trade relations as well as encouraging investments and advanced industrial projects of interest to the two countries.

He also asserted the importance of exchanging such visits between officials of the two countries within the framework of boosting bilateral cooperation expressing the keenness of the UAE to extend bridges of cooperation with Australia.

The Australian Prime Minister reciprocated his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressing his country's keenness to strengthen the bonds of relations with the UAE to which it attaches great importance.

He welcomed Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation saying that his visit to Australia comes in the framework of strengthening cooperation and friendship between the two countries and to enhance cooperation between the two sides. In this context he pointed out the good reputation and high stature enjoyed by the UAE at a global level.

The Australian Prime Minister also hailed the UAE's investment environment contributing to attracting global business and international investment projects and making the UAE a commercial and financial centre. He wished the country further successes in various fields.

The meeting also touched on existing cooperation and friendship between the UAE and Australia and ways of strengthen efforts towards the development of economic and trade relations to encourage joint investments advanced industrial projects and energy areas of interest to the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Obaid Al Hairi Salem Al Ketbi UAE Ambassador to Australia and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Director of the Department of East Asia and Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
