Kuwait condones political solution in Syria- Diplomat


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GENEVA March 15 (KUNA) -- The debacle in Syria will not peter out in the absence of a decisive political solution that would reinstall peace and stability in the country said a Kuwaiti diplomat on Tuesday.Addressing the UN Human Rights Council Kuwait's delegate to the UN in this city Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim said Kuwait was appreciative of the work of the UN-sponsored fact-finding commission in Syria and shared with it its anxiety over the rampant arrests of civilians forced disappearances and the kidnapping of children to be conscripted to armed gangs of fighters.He stressed the conviction that Kuwait condemned all violations of human rights in Syria as stated by a report from the commission saying that Kuwait was committed to the unity and sovereignty of Syria.Kuwait he said has launched numerous undertakings to bring international humanitarian support to the Syrian people culminating in hosting four donors conferences three of which took place in Kuwait.Up to USD 17 billion were pledged at the donors conferences Kuwait paying so far USD 1.3 billion of the pledged amount said Al-Ghunaim noting that His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah brought attention to the fact that Syrian refugees ought to have access to health care and proper education.
