Oman- MCBS seminar to outline relevance of Islamic banking and finance

Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) will be holding an open seminar on Islamic banking and finance at City Seasons Hotel Muscat on Tuesday.

At the seminar industry experts will offer insights into the history and relevance of Islamic banking in the sultanate. There will also be a presentation on a pioneering master's programme in Islamic banking and finance offered by the college stated a press release.

'The seminar will offer a platform for exchange of knowledge and opinion on recent developments in Islamic banking. It is also designed to facilitate effective networking with professionals from the banking sector. Participants will get to know about the master's programme in Islamic banking and financethe only programme of its kind in the country' said Dr Rene Paquibut associate dean at the college.

Guest speakers at the seminar will include Azhar Hamid director for Sharia'a compliance at Ahlibank and Abdullah Balhadia senior lecturer at MCBS. While Hamid will speak on 'Islamic Banking and its Development in Oman' Balhadia will examine Islamic and conventional banking and its role in non-oil growth in the context of GCC countries. The seminar will be held from 4.30pm-6pm.
