Pakistan's abroad firms' profit outflow more than inbound FDI


(MENAFN) Pakistan's return of profits on foreign direct investment (FDI) surpassed the net inflow of FDI through the first seven months of 2015-16, as the latest data revealed.

The repatriation of profits by firms working in Pakistan to their stakeholders based in overseas totaled USD817.1mn in Jul-Jan, which is USD170mn more than the inflow of FDI the country got over the same period.

Additionally, between major segments of the economy, financial businesses repatriated the biggest amount to their stakeholders in overseas countries throughout July-Jan.

Moreover, the world's sixth-most populous nation allows 100 percent foreign ownership of businesses and unrestricted repatriation of profits to encourage investment in the country.
