Al Khor rally to down Qatar SC El Jaish edge Al Arabi

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Action from the 2016 Qatar Cup between Qatar SC and Al Khor at the Al Gharafa Indoor Stadium yesterday.

Doha: Al Khor continued their impressive run in the 2016 Qatar Cup 2016 to register a second successive win while El Jaish also finished on the winning side in yesterday’s matches at the Al Gharafa Indoor Stadium.

In the first match of the day Al Khor made a splendid recovery in the third quarter to post a 84-77 win over Qatar SC.

Coach Ahmed Fawzy started off an impressive note to take a 23-13 lead heading into the second quarter and continued in the same quarter to finish the second quarter at 40-30.

In the third quarter Al Khor took the lead for the first in the game going into the last quarter with a four point cushion of 62-58.

From there on Al Khor were simply unstoppable. Helped by top scorer Rembert Patrick Ronald Al Khor continued to pick hole in the Qatar SC defence on a consistent basis to score points while defending with aplomb.

Ronald top scored for Al Khor with 38 points playing a stellar role in the win.

Abouo Charles with 26 points and Hadzibegovic Alen with 13 points played a perfect foil to Ronald to give coach Ahmed Kamel side his second win of the championship.

For Qatar SC White Malcolm Anthony took the fight into the Al Khor camp with 34 points.

Jefferson Consteveous (24 points) and Al Muftah Abdulrahman Ibrahim (14 points) supported Anthony’s efforts.

In the second match El Jaish defeated Al Arabi 81-77 also collected their second successive win to maintain a consistent run in the tournament.

El Jaish had opened their Qatar Cup campaign with 74-73 win over Al Sadd on Wednesday.

Bell Rashad Ernest top scored for El Jaish with 19 points.

Macklin Vernon Leon and Magassa Hadj both scored 18 points for El Jaish.

For Al Arabi Soyebo Temi Narcellius and Seck Oumar scored 20 points each in a losing cause.

Hamed Ibnomer Moutasim scored 14 points for Al Arabi.
