Qatar- WIFA holds workshop on women leadership


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Sheikha Athba Tamer Al Thani of QDVC with other officials and speakers at the event in Doha.

DOHA: Women in Finance and Accounting Forum of Qatar (WIFA) a platform that was built three years ago on International Women’s Day conducted a workshop on “Women Work and Will to Lead” on Tuesday.

The event was attended by more than 100 working professionals.

Sheikha Athba Tamer Al Thani Chief Advisor to Chairman and CEO of QDVC was the Chief guest. Addressing the event Sheikha Athba shared her personal journey of learning and leadership with the audience.

“WIFA is a great platform that offers network support and encouragement to young Qatari women who have the drive to excel and share the collaborative spirit to move forward at the work place. I am honoured to have been part of this event” Sheikha Athba said.

Shridhar Sampath Founder and Managing Director of Motivaluate presented the workshop on WIFA Leadership- 5 steps breaking the glass ceiling. “Change your language Change your life” he said.

Quoting leadership examples from everyday real and common life Shridhar demonstrated how the language that we speak in our minds dictates our very being which then translates into behaviour action and results.

Another inspirational message came from TVS Prasad a Motivational Speaker. Women are natural leaders and when they work with passion it positively impacts both their personal and professional lives. They are more efficient in managing finances and if every corporate can have women in key Finance roles there won’t be another ENRON or another Satyam Computers he said.

Saumya Krishna Chairperson and Co-Founder of WIFA and Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche said : “We are no longer debating today whether a woman can succeed in the professional domain or not its’ about how she defines success. Women need to also take responsibility of their own success. Its when they start taking ownership of their achievements development and ambition there is no limit to what they can accomplish. This event has emphasized to our members the importance of positive desire thoughts and actions that manifest personal and professional success.”

Deepa Chandrashekar Founder of WIFA and Financial Controller at QGIRCO stated that “Women entering the field of Finance and Accounting which for ages was construed to be a man’s land has increased in the last decade. Today there are several women in leading positions who instill the confidence in other women and contribute to their growth.”

The forum currently has more than 150 professional women working in the Finance and Accounting field in Qatar with significant representation by Qatari women.The Peninsula
