GM to recollect 1,700 defected vehicles


(MENAFN) General Motors, the top American carmaker, will recall nearly 1,700 new vehicles in the US and Canada to replace airbags, based on recent reports.

The automaker is recalling 1,579 Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Malibu and GMC Canyon vehicles in the US and another 161 in Canada to fix the hazardous issue.

Additionally, many top industry leaders have recalled about 28 million Takata airbags in the US on the back of life-threatening defects linked to several deaths.

"This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls, "said the biggest US automaker, however it did not pinpoint the producer of the defective airbags.
