Turk Telekom constructs USD700m cable network

(MENAFN) As part of a vital USD700 million scheme, Turk Telekom has built a high-capacity submarine data station at the Aegean resort town of Marmaris, based on recent reports.

Accordingly, the SEA-ME-WE-5 project will eventually join 17 nations, including Turkey, to a system that stretches for more than 20,000 kilometers between Europe and Asia.

The project is set to establish an infrastructure that reinforces Turkey's digital communication with the world and meets its increased data demand with a state of the art cable system.

The building of the system, which links nations on 3 continents, including Singapore, India and France, started in 2014 and is expected to be finished by November 2016.
