UK's Npower to cut 2,400 jobs

(MENAFN) Npower, one of the key six UK energy firms, is slashing 2,400 jobs from its workforce, which reflects more than one fifth of its overall 11,500 employees.

The company witnessed a loss of USD151mn last year, along with 351 thousand clients; therefore this crucial decision is part of a two year recovery program.

Though it is vague how many British sites will suffer job losses, the firm said that the Midlands and north-east England would be completely safe from firings.

"Npower has been plagued by customer complaints over billing and in Dec was fined a record USD37 million for those problems," stated a BBC report.
