(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ankara March 07 (QNA) - A soldier was killed in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Diyarbakir provinces Sur district early Monday the Turkish military said.
A statement from the Turkish General Staff said that the soldier was severely wounded during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the district and later succumbed to his wounds in hospital according to Anadolu Agency (AA).
Turkey's southeast has been the scene of significant military operations since December 2015 as security forces clear urban centers of the PKK.
More than 280 security forces personnel and thousands of PKK militants have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq since December 2015. (QNA)
