UAE- Fatima bint Mubarak receives wife of US Vice President

ABU DHABI 7th March 2016 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Chairwoman of the General Women's Union GWU Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation FDF and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood today received Jill Biden wife of US Vice President Joe Biden who is currently visiting the country.
During the meeting they discussed ways to boost cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the United States in areas related to Women's Empowerment and enabling them to serve the community in all fields of development.
Sheikha Fatima welcomed the visit of US Vice President's wife expressing her hopes that the visit will promote cooperation and exchange of experiences and expertise in the areas of women's work between the UAE and the US.
Sheikha Fatima briefed Mrs. Biden on the process of development and renaissance achieved by Emirati women thanks to the support given to her by the founder of the UAE the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and following his steps President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In this regard Sheikha Fatima pointed out the role of the General Women's Union and other women's institutions at state level in making every possible effort to implement the directives of the wise leadership in supporting and helping women and children.
Mrs. Biden commended Sheikha Fatima's role in supporting the Emirati women and her continuous initiatives in the field of mothers' and children's care and the protection of young people. She also praised Emirati women for assuming senior posts in various fields in the country.
She added that she noticed that women in the country are assuming ministerial parliamentarian diplomatic and academic posts hailing the stature achieved by Emirati women regionally and internationally.
The US Vice-President's wife also praised the Global Women's Forum Dubai 2016 hosted by Dubai recently under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and chaired by the wife of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of Dubai Women Establishment with the participation of more than 2000 attendees including leaders and decision-makers in the government and private sectors in the region and the world.
Mrs. Biden lauded the comprehensive cultural renaissance witnessed by the UAE at all levels including women who represent half of society.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan wife of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikha Aisha bint Suhail bin Mubarak.
