France to launch nuclear fusion plant worth USD14b

(MENAFN) ITER, a revolutionary USD14bn project which is currently under construction, is set to usher in a new era of nuclear fusion-powered electricity.

The first and biggest machine of its kind is being built at the French scientific research center named Cadarache, which focuses on nuclear power research.

Once completed, ITER would measure 100 feet in diameter and height, demonstrating a new breed of nuclear fusion device which will change everything.

In more detail, by fusing two forms of hydrogen, called deuterium and tritium, together, the machine would generate a substantial 500 megawatts of power.
