Oman- 500 delegates to take part in Arab India meet on May 10 11

About 500 Arab and Indian government officials academicians businessmen and investors are expected to take part in the fifth Arab-India Partnership Conference on May 10 and 11.

To be organised under the theme 'Partnership Towards Innovation and Cooperation in IT' the opening ceremony will be under the auspices of H H Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said Assistant Secretary General in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers in the presence of a number of ministers senior government officials business leaders and investors from India and Arab countries.

The conference aims at enhancing investments from both sides in a number of priority sectors activating existing joint ventures and providing conducive environment for export promotion and sharing of expertise.

It will focus on renewable energy green technology food security tourism healthcare technology innovation higher education and skill development.

A senior representative from Ithraa will deliver a speech on the incentives provided to investors.

Said bin Saleh al Kiyumi chairman of OCCI said 'India is a major trade and economy partner of Oman and the Arab countries. The importance of the conference is more due to the current economic conditions as a result of low oil prices and the efforts made to encourage local and foreign investments and diversify sources of national economies.'

Eng Redha bin Juma al Saleh deputy chairman of OCCI and general supervisor of the conference said 'The conference aims at maximising the trade and investments between India and the Arab countries.

'It also aims to enhance cooperation and provide an ideal platform for Arab countries and organisations to share experiences about issues of mutual interest.

'The conference has emerged as an important biennial forum for promoting the two-way flow of business and investments and is strongly placed to leverage the emerging opportunities. It will encourage both parties to sign deal and enhance cooperation in prioritised areas such as IT scientific research and biotechnology.

'It will also pave the way for cementing bilateral business and economic relations by encouraging investments in infrastructure manufacturing medical tourism and therapeutic services.

'OCCI is very keen to maintain coordination with the relevant stakeholders in both sides to ensure the success of the conference and help it achieve its prospective goals.'
