Oman- National Youth Commission takes part in Muscat book fair

The National Youth Commission (NYC) participated in the ten-day 21st Muscat International Book Fair which concluded on Saturday.

A press release stated that many youths visited the commission's stall at the fair to enquire about its activities. They discussed about their careers and future challenges the release added.

The commission organised several programmes including a reading competition youth cafe and a discussion on social media.

Several youth-centric publications were also launched at the commission's stall.
The reading competition saw participations from the Sultan Qaboos University Vocational Training Institution in Ibri and Ministry of Manpower-run colleges.

The youth cafe saw noted social researcher Asma al Shamsiyah hosting H E Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir al Shaibaniyah Minister of Education to discuss about Killer Identit a book by Lebanese writer Ameen Maloof.
It talks about how cultural diversity leads to wars between people belonging to different identities.

A forum on social media saw Aydah al Zedjaliah a media personality talk about the 'Rfoof' initiative to highlight the concept about learning through borrowed books.

On the occasion NYC distributed youth-related books to libraries like the Public Lecture Library of Bahla Nizwa Cultural Centre Sinaw Cultural Centre and many more such institutions. Omani writers Muna al Najar distributed her signed novel Wardat al Sultan while Aysha al Maskariyah distributed her signed children's book Shield in Electronic World to visitors.
