(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha March 06 (QNA) - The Qatar-Singapore High Level Joint Committee (HLJC) held Sunday a meeting with HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani chairing the Qatari side.
Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean chaired Singapore's side of the committee at the meeting that took place at the Emiri Diwan. The two sides discussed relations of bilateral cooperation and means to enhance them in the economic and investment fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of joint interest.
Afterwards the two officials witnessed the signing of three memorandums of understanding one on cooperation on the legal field between the governments of Qatar and Singapore another on cooperation in the education field between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Singapore and a third on cooperation and exchange in the field of development and capacity building of government officials and sectors' leaders between Qatar Leadership Centre and the Civil Service College in Singapore.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore also witnessed the signing of minutes of the joint statement of the HLJC 7th meeting in which the two sides underlined their commitment to the continuation of the work of the HLJC as the major pillar of cooperation between the two countries. The two sides welcomed the development of bilateral relations as each of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore cooperate in various fields since the HLJC's first meeting held in October 2006 particularly economic cooperation training in the fields of civil service and urban planning cooperation in the fields of security civil defence information technology communications and the legal field.
The two sides welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of education between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Singapore the signing of a MoU between Qatar's Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Law in Singapore.
The two sides also welcomed the renewal of a MoU on cooperation and exchange in the field of capacity building of government officials and sectors' leaders between Qatar Leadership Centre and the Civil Service College in Singapore.
They agreed to hold the committee's next meeting in the Republic of Singapore at a date to be set later through diplomatic channels.HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation accompanying him. (QNA)
