GCC Ministerial Council to hold its 138th session in Riyadh


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh Jumada I 26 1437 March 06 2016 SPA -- Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will hold their 138th session on Wednesday at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir who is also the chairman to the council's current session.

Secretary General of the GCC Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani said that the GCC foreign ministers will discuss progress of the implementation of the GCC Supreme Council's resolutions including follow-up of the implementation of the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on strengthening the GCC joint work and what has been achieved within the framework of integration and cooperation among the GCC countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all areas.

Dr. Al-Zayani said the ministers will also discuss memos and reports submitted by the ministerial committees and the GCC General Secretariat and topics related to relations between the GCC and a number of world blocs within the strategic dialogues and partnerships in addition to latest regional and international developments and the security situation in the region including the situation in Syria Libya and Iraq.

The GCC Ministerial Council will hold a simultaneous meeting with both Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh and Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar to discuss ways of improving the strategic partnership relations between the two countries and the GCC which had been approved by the GCC Supreme Council Dr. Al-Zayani said.

He pointed out that the GCC ministerial council will also meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Yemen Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and ways of enhancing cooperation between the GCC and Yemen in various fields including joint coordination to enhance Yemen's security and peace push the United Nations efforts to hold political consultations between the concerned parties and intensify the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people in all provinces in cooperation with the competent international organization.
