ASX All Ords charges higher on back of resource buying

The Australian equity market continues to attract buyers today making it two days of very healthy gains.

In afternoon trade the ASX All Ordinaries has climbed 1% to 5133. This follows the 1.9% jump yesterday.

Major miners

BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP) up 3.8% to $17.37; Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) up 6.2% to $2.39; Newcrest (ASX:NCM) down 0.5% to $17.07; Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) up 2.3% to $44.32.


Energy or Oil and Gas

Oil Search (ASX:OSH) up 3.3% to $7.22; Santos (ASX:STO) up 2.8% to $3.70; Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) down 0.1% to $27.09.


Big 4 banks

ANZ Bank (ASX:ANZ) up 3.0% to $24.83; Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) up 0.9% to $74.62; National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) 2.7% to $26.25; Westpac (ASX:WBC) up 1.5% to $31.14.


Other banks financials and industrials

AMP (ASX:AMP) up 3.4% to $5.46; Bank of Queensland (ASX:BOQ) up 4.2% to $11.46; Bendigo and Adelaide Bank (ASX:BEN) up 4.5% to $8.64; Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) down 1.4% to $65.72; Suncorp (ASX:SUN) up 1.4% to $11.82;
