Police operation kills 4 militants in S. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD March 6 (KUNA) -- At least four suspected militants belonging to a banned outfit were killed in an encounter with police in Pakistan's southern Karachi city said police on Sunday.A senior police official SSP Malir Rao Anwar said that the raid was carried out on the outskirts of the city near a residential compound off Superhighway near Inara Garden area. The suspects were allegedly involved in the killing of security personnel and sectarian violence. Police acted on an information provided by the already arrested suspects and was backed by intelligence agencies said Anwar.SSP Malir further said that the suspects resorted to firing as police reached the site and in an ensuing encounter four gunmen got gunned down. The police also claimed to have seized a cache of weapons from the custody of suspected militants.The raid is a continuation of the ongoing comprehensive operation in the metropolitan led by paramilitary Rangers to eliminate terrorism and maintain law and order in the city.
