Jordan- King accepts credentials of newly appointed envoys


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman March 6 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday accepted credentials of a number of newly appointed ambassadors to Jordan during a ceremony held at the Basman Palace.

At the ceremony King Abdullah received the credentials of Austrian ambassador Michael Desser Nafsika Krousti of Cyprus non-resident envoy of Denmark Svend Waever Pan Weifang of China Safiah Al-Saheel of Iraq Singaporean non-resident ambassador Shamsher Zaman non-resident ambassador of Peru Hugo Portugal and the non-resident ambassador of Belarus Aleksandr L. Ponomarev.

Arriving at the Basman Palace for the ceremony the King reviewed the guard of honour as a military band played the national anthems of Jordan and the ambassadors' respective countries.

The diplomats laid wreaths on the tombs of King Hussein Bin Talal King Abdullah I and King Talal Bin Abdullah.

Royal Court chief minister of tourism and antiquities and acting foreign minister attended the ceremony.
