Kuwait ambassador discusses cooperation with Palermo mayor
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME March 6 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has held talks with Palermo Mayor Leoluca Orlando on means of boosting cultural cooperation with Kuwait and other GCC countries particularly for reviving Islamic and Arab heritages.The Kuwait Embassy said in a statement that the ambassador discussed with the mayor some ideas and proposed initiatives for promoting deep effects of the Arab-Islamic civilization in the Mediterranean region.The talks dealt with ideas to rebuild historic bonds between the Arab and European civilizations that are still visible through historic relics in the Palermo now being renovated by the local administration in coordination with the government in Rome.Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled discussed with the mayor prospects of holding musical and artistic Kuwaiti and Gulf activities at the city renowned opera theatre particularly with aim of presenting Kuwait contributions to mankind civilization.Mayor Leuluca expressed pride in the city Arab heritage which constitutes a great part of its identity and affirmed desire to re-establish bonds with the Arab world. He also lauded the ambassador's role in bolstering mutual cooperation particularly at the cultural and humanitarian levels and expressed readiness to host Arab cultural activities.Moreover the Kuwaiti ambassador manifested gratitude to the mayor for the warm hosting of the Kuwaiti "journey of hope" months ago. The sea expedition which toured the world was intended to promote status of people of special mental challenges.He affirmed Kuwait's keenness on boosting cooperation and values such as peaceful co-existence among peoples of diverse cultures and belonging.
