Ooredoo becomes newest talent sponsor of Teach For Qatar programme

DOHA: Teach For Qatar has announced that Ooredoo will be its newest talent sponsor enabling young professionals or managers in the company to take a placement at one of the schools in Qatar to impart working knowledge and professional training to children.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony led by Mohammed Abdullah Fakhroo CEO Teach For Qatar and Yousuf Al Kubaisi COO Ooredoo Qatar. They agree to support each other as they push to offer Ooredoo employees and students in world-class training.

Fakhroo said “Teach For Qatar continues to seek outstanding leaders — whether top graduates or talented professionals — who can act as role models in the classroom to positively impact student learning.

“Our partnership with Ooredoo enables Teach For Qatar to continue efforts to improve the local education sector by acting as part of the solution to some of the challenges facing Qatar’s students. We look forward to establishing new partnerships with companies seeking to support our mission by providing Teach For Qatar with access to their pool of talented Qatari employees.”

Al Kubaisi said “Ooredoo is committed to developing the local community and supporting the country’s growth as it strides forward to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

“We are delighted to partner with Teach For Qatar and assist in the organisation’s vision. Ooredoo takes pride in its talented pool of employees and supports their professional and personal development.

“We are happy to contribute our young professionals to Teach For Qatar’s placements because it will benefit the community and help diversify and develop our employees’ leadership skills.”

Teach For Qatar’s partners include the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Qatar Foundation Qatar Petroleum ExxonMobil Qatar Qatar National Bank Maersk Oil Qatar and Dolphin Energy.

By training young leaders to positively impact students inside the classroom Teach For Qatar a local non-governmental organisation provides passionate graduates and professionals with an opportunity to give back to the country by placing them at Independent schools for a two-year teaching and leadership development programme.

Following a successful first year Teach For Qatar’s second set of hand-picked professionals started teaching at Independent schools last September with the start of the new academic year.The Peninsula
