ISIS losing battle in Iraq- US envoy


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD March 5 (KUNA) -- Brett McGurk the US Special presidential envoy to the coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS or Daesh) said Saturday the US-led coalition is planning for the post-IS era in Iraq after dealing strong blows to the group.The United States and its allies pounded a total of 14 IS positions in Iraq and Syria and this terrorist group is losing the battle he told reporters at the US embassy.The coalition forces are working side by side with the Iraqi forces to restore stability to the cities liberated from this group he said."Daesh is feeling pressure now from all simultaneous directions and that's going to continue and to accelerate. Daesh is losing. As they lose we focus increasingly on stabilization" McGurk stressed.As part of the Strategic Framework Agreement for a Relationship of Friendship and Cooperation the United States will continue offering all possible help to the Iraqi government in the face of economic and security challenges he reaffirmed.Regarding the preparations for the battle to liberate Mosul McGurk said these preparations are good on the military and humanitarian levels.However the US presidential envoy expected the battle of Mosul to be complicated.
