According to an army statement the woman had allegedly tried to hit an Israeli soldier with her car at the entrance of the Jewish-only Gush Etzion settlement in the southern West Bank.

The statement said Israeli forces responded by opening fire on the assailant who was killed immediately.

Eyewitnesses meanwhile told Anadolu Agency that Israeli soldiers had killed Amani Sbatien 34 by firing more than twenty bullets into her car on the pretext that she had tried to run over an Israeli soldier.
