Assailants target police checkpoint in Istanbul
(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) An unidentified group opened fire on a police station in Istanbul’s Bayrampasa district Thursday morning.
The assailants attacked a security checkpoint at the entrance to the Riot Police Directorate in Bayrampasa on Istanbul’s European side and then police officers responded. After a short shootout the attackers fled the scene. Witnesses said that one of the attackers was wounded. Operations in the area continue to catch the assailants.
