Qatar Committee Discusses Cooperation and Coordination with WTO


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatar national committee for coordination on matters related to the World Trade Organization met today with WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo at Qatar Chamber premises. The meeting discussed coordination between the two sides in organizing workshops and forums, facilitating global trade and removing technical obstacles.

The two sides also touched on specifications and standards and the importance of being in line with those of Arab countries, and stressed the need to complete the elements of the Doha agenda in any future WTO negotiations.

They also discussed ways of cooperation between the two sides in terms of holding workshops, forums and conferences on WTO's systems and regulations so as to enhance the experience and knowledge of Qatari youth working in this field on certain matters handled by the organization.
The deputy head of the national committee briefed the WHO Director-General on the committee and its goals as well as mechanism of action in accordance with WTO principles, highlighting that the committee is in constant contact with the WTO through the Ministry of Economy and Commerce's office in Geneva.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to cement cooperation between them, while WTO Director General promised to provide all facilities and aspects of possible cooperation to enable the committee to address things related to the organization.
