Kuwait hailed for condemning remarks against Saudi Arabia

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Kuwait Dr Abdulaziz Al-Fayez expressed appreciation for the heartfelt official and popular statements of the State of Kuwait in condemnation of the strange statements and remarks issued by some people in Kuwait against Saudi Arabia.

During a press conference held Tuesday at the embassy's headquarters, he stressed that the relations between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait is strong enough to overcome the attempts of those who seek to harm these relations.

The ambassador affirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz believes Kuwait has stood side-by-side with its sister country Saudi Arabia in good and bad times. He explained that His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at several occasions, highlighted the special bond Kuwait shares with Saudi Arabia due to which Kuwait will not tolerate any harm or insult directed at Saudi Arabia.

This was evident from the feelings of resentment expressed by the Cabinet and top officials of the country concerning the improper behaviors of some individuals against Saudi Arabia. They revealed their intention to take legal procedures against those who harm and abuse Saudi Arabia. The Kuwaiti government also expressed its determination to take all legal procedures to confront any violation committed against Saudi Arabia.

Relations
Dr Al-Fayez reiterated that the relations between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait is brotherly and historical, which is why many sons of Saudi Arabia feel sorrow about the irresponsible behaviors of some individuals who present themselves as Kuwaiti citizens. Regarding his meeting with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Khalid Al-Jarallah on Monday, he explained that the embassy has not posed any demands in this regard because it believes the Kuwaiti laws are efficient in dealing with such violations. The meeting was just aimed to "inform our Kuwaiti brothers about these cases of abuse which are intended to distort the relations between the two countries".

He clarified that the embassy does not present protests but it observes deliberate abuses aimed at Saudi Arabia and then notifies Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, based on the diplomatic norms followed in this regard, adding, "After we ensure our observations reach the executive and judicial authorities, we feel assured because we trust in their honesty and justice. We respect the Kuwaiti judiciary". The ambassador indicated that the distinguished status of the Saudi- Kuwaiti relations provokes some individuals into attempting to harm them but they fail at every attempt. When asked if the apology of those who tried to harm the Kuwaiti-Saudi relations will be accepted, Dr Al-Fayez indicated that this issue is in the hands of the judiciary.

In another development, Dr Al-Fayez revealed during the press conference that the concerned authorities of Saudi Arabia are studying the possibility of issuing visas for Bedoun residents who hold passports under Article 17 in order to facilitate their entry into Saudi Arabia based on the visa conditions. He said he is expecting the concerned Saudi authorities to finalize these procedures soon after which the embassy in Kuwait will reissue visas for Bedoun residents. Dr Al-Fayez stressed that the issuance of visas is a sovereign matter for Saudi Arabia and nobody is allowed to discuss or ask about the procedures of Saudi Arabia for allowing people of any nationality enter the country particularly under the current situation of the region.
