(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Motorcycles fans had a date this week with the first race of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship which took place in Doha at the Losail International Circuit. The championship took place February 26-27 with the most important international teams from all over the world participating.
The event, which is the opener of the 20-round season, had Alfardan Automobiles, the official importer for the BMW Group in Qatar, as the official transporter.
Qatar hosted the opening round for the fourth time in a row.
The round extended over two days, beginning with a technical control and riders' briefing. Following this, training for the women, MX2, and MXGP took place until it was time for the qualifying races for MX2 and MXGP.
The second day, marked by enthusiasm, included all the races for all the categories, starting with WMX and finishing with MXGP race.
Alfardan Automobilies general manager Ihab All said, "This championship is very important for the fans and followers of this sport internationally. We are pleased to be sponsors of this event in Qatar for the fourth time in a row, and the success we have seen until now contributes to the introduction and spread of the sport in the Middle East. We hope to see the crucial participation of Arab drivers in the coming season in 2017."
It is worth mentioning that during the tournament, in the area dedicated to a group of distinctive BMW models, Alfardan Automobiles displayed the BMW X3, BMW X4 and BMW X5 models, as well as BMW Motorrad and a number of BMW Lifestyle products.
