Blast kills two US mission employees N. Pakistan
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD March 1 (KUNA) -- Two local officials of the United States mission in Pakistan were killed and four others injured when their vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the country's northern Mohmand tribal agency on Tuesday.A statement by the US mission in Peshawar confirmed that two of its local employees Faisal Khan a project development specialist and driver Abid Shah were killed in the Sangar area of Ambar Tehsil. The statement further said "We extend our condolences to their families and friends and our deepest sympathy to the injured in the March 1 attack on a Government of Pakistan Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) convoy."The US government strongly condemns the attack. We offer our assistance to the government of Pakistan in investigating the incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice" it added.The blast also injured a local political administration official anti-narcotics official and a policeman. The deceased officers had surveyed the area with administration officials when a roadside-planted IED went off destroying the jeep. The workers were employed under the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) working with local anti-narcotics force.Mohmand is one of the seven tribal agencies of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan and the military is undergoing a comprehensive operation against foreign and local militants in the area.
