UAE- GCC national gets life term for running drug den

Ajman Criminal Court has sentenced a 43-year-old GCC national to life term in jail and fined him Dh50000 for trafficking drugs into the country.

The court also sentenced four others to four years each in jail for consuming drugs.

The accused S.H. brought hashish opium and tramadol to the country from an Asian country and transformed his residence into a drug den.

The 43-year-old hosted drug addicts at his residence in Ajman and sold drugs.

According to the police record the Anti Narcotic Department received information about the activities of the first accused S.H and following permission from the Public Prosecution his house was put under surveillance.

During the surveillance operation the officer saw the third and fourth accused leaving the house inebriated. The police took them into custody with one possessing a quantity of opium and the other with possession of tramadol.

The police raided the house and arrested the first accused who tried to escape.

The second accused was arrested from the wash room with possession of hashish and the fifth was arrested while sitting in a sofa with possession of opium.

Police seized all the drug substances found in the resident of the first accused.
