Qatar- Josoor Institute holds professional development workshops


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence for the sports and events industries, inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) kick-started yesterday its first professional development workshop in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University (QU-CAS).
The two-day workshop titled "Marketing and Public Relations (PR) for Sport and Major Events" discusses some relevant topics and examines the role of marketing and PR in delivering organisational, commercial and business interests in sport and major events industries. Over 80 delegates, including 35 students from the Sport Science programme at CAS - Qatar University are attending the workshop. Other organisations from which delegates come from, include € Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Qatar Football Association, Qatar Stars League, Aspire, Aspetar, Ministry of Interior, Qatar Foundation, BeIN Media Group and Al Jazeera Network to name a few.
This is the first workshop in a series of two professional development workshops to be delivered by Josoor Institute in partnership with CAS- QU. The second workshop will focus on the "Creating High Performance Sports Organisations" and it is scheduled for 2-3 March 2016. The Josoor Institute was inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organisation tasked with delivering the tournament infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It addresses the SC's strategic goal to 'build high quality talent and establish a centre of excellence' and is designed to deliver world-class education and training to the people of Qatar, the Middle East and North Africa (Mena).
The Josoor Institute will train many of the people who will play an integral role in Qatar's hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. These individuals will then have the knowledge to deliver large-scale sporting and non-sporting events across the region long after 2022. The Josoor Institute aims to be a catalyst for transforming the sports and events industries in the region and set new standards globally.
