Qatar- Man sentenced to death for stabbing father

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A Doha Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a young man to death for fatally stabbing his father after a heated debate over buying him a new vehicle.
The court, however, adjourned the execution of the verdict until the convict's youngest brother reaches the legal age, giving room for the legal heirs of the victim to accept blood money, or seek mercy for the convict.
Two consultant psychiatrists from Hamad Medical Corporation testified that the convict suffers from schizophrenia, which influences his assessment. Yet, they told the court that the nature of his illness was intermittent and at the time of murder he was completely accountable for his actions, and was able to distinguish between right and wrong.
The convict admitted his guilt. He also handed himself over to the police after committing his crime.
Motorist's negligence proven in accident:A Doha criminal court has fined a motorist QR10,000 and suspended his driving license for a month for jumping the red signal and colliding
with another vehicle.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendant also caused the other car to crash into a light column, which caused the three occupants of the vehicle
severe injuries.
The traffic report about the accident had proven that due to the negligence of the motorist, he did not notice the red light and continued to drive on, which caused the accident.
