Prosecutor Andrew Robertson told the trial at Sheffield Crown Court that Jones attacked Ahmed "for no better reason than Mr. Ahmed was Asian."

Medical evidence presented in court showed Ahmed suffered many blows and an imprint of a training shoe was left on his face.

Jones who will serve a minimum sentence of 32 years and Huntwere said to have attacked the pensioner while in a "raging fury" having spent the previous day drinking and taking drugs.

“Hunt and Jones have never given an explanation for their own vicious actions that evening but the court heard how Mr. Ahmed was assaulted because of the color of his skin a fact that is as disturbing as it is despicable" the police officer leading the case Det.
