Kuwait calls for supporting Iraq against terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 29 (KUNA) -- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Jarallah called on the international community to support Iraq's fight against terrorismin order to protect security and stability in the country.Al-Jarallah's statement came during his speech at the fourth meeting of the international working group on stability affiliated to the international coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) on Monday.Kuwait and Iraq share strong ties on all levels and are cooperating to fight terrorism by all means said the deputy FM.He added that the group has set a number of strategic plans to end the threat of terrorism against the international community.Meanwhile he noted that the group aims to allow citizens displaced by IS in different cities and towns to return to their homes adding that Kuwait is exerting huge efforts to support the group's work.It is the international community's duty to provide financial and political support to the Iraqi government to face the unstable conditions in the country Al-Jarallah said.He noted that Kuwait has donated USD 200 million and has also agreed to delay the Iraqi compensations owed to Kuwait to allow the country to recover from the worsening security conditions.On his part head of the office of Iraq's Prime Minister Mahdi Al-Allag stressed the importance of bringing stability to the recently-liberated cities.The official noted the prominent role played by different countries and the Iraqi government to allow displaced citizens to return to their homes at Salahuddin Governorate.He added that over 90 percent of people have returned to Tikrit and other cities.(end) rkf.nma.tb.ag
