Turkey- Australia to allocate some 15mln to help Fiji recover from cyclone


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) >Australian government will allocate Fiji $15.1million to help the Pacific nation to recover from tropical cyclone the Australian High Commission based in Fijian capital of Suva said in a statement Monday.

On February 21 Fiji Islands have been hit by a major category 5 tropical cyclone Winston. Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama called Winston "one of the most powerful" storms in recorded history.

"This new package of support brings the Australian Government's assistance for Fiji to $15 million" the statement read.

The statement added that the Australian Government would also provide support to respond to urgent health needs of the Fijian people and increase the medical contingent deployed at the Pacific nation.
