Visa on arrival for Omanis in 71 countries

Citizens of Oman get visa-on-arrival in 71 countries according to a new global travel index.

Oman is tied up along with Thailand at 67th place as citizens of both countries get visa-on-arrival in 71 countries.

Henley & Partners a global leader in residence and citizenship planning has been publishing the annual Visa Restrictions Index for the past one decade.

It has now released the 2016 index which has been prepared in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which maintains the world's largest database of travel information.

The ranking is based on the number of countries where citizens get visa-on-arrival.

The Visa Restrictions Index was created with visa regulations effective on January 1 2016 including any temporary ones applicable on that date.

UAE has been ranked 38th giving its citizens access to 122 countries. Kuwait is at 57th spot with its citizens able to visit 82 countries followed by Qatar at 60th whose citizens get visa-on-arrival in 79 countries. Bahrain is ranked 65th with access to 73 countries while Saudi Arabia at 69th with access to 69 countries.

Germany has retained the top position with its citizens getting visa-on-arrival in 177 countries out of a total of 218 while Sweden remained at 2nd with its citizens able to visit 176 countries. Citizens of Finland France Italy Spain and the UK get visa-on-arrival in 175 countries.
